That’s a bit of surprise.. One would expect a city like Portland to top this list..Nonetheless, it is good to see the number of cities expanding their biking infrastructure.
San Francisco is the most bike-friendly city in the United States. With 5.6 miles of dedicated bike lanes, multiuse bike paths and signed bike routes per square mile (263 miles in total), the Californian metropolis offers the best biking infrastructure in the country.
Tech startup NeXt built a product called HeadsUP!, a visual display that projects often-used cellphone features, such as texting, voice calls, and email, onto the windshield of a car. This allows users to engage with their smartphones without needing to look down, or fumbling with them while driving.
HeadsUP! enables voice dictation and touch-free swiping to let users interact with the screen.
NeXt is seeking a patent for the technology, and is asking donors on Indiegogo to pay $299 for the earliest version of its HeadsUP! device.
Of course, the biggest question is how much of this new tech will add to driver distraction, a hot topic that often pits tech/gadget makers against the regulators and policy-makers who fret about road safety.

Say hello to Honk, a neat little app (now available on iOS platform for $0.99) that solves two of the biggest headaches (especially in urban environments that you are unfamiliar) – remembering where you parked and also remembering if your meter time is up. Here are some of the features as mentioned in the app store:
Simplest interface to set the parking meter alarm. A single swipe for most situations!
Updates your remaining time on its App Icon. A quick glance at your home screen, your mind at peace.
Smooth handwritten memo/photo/voice memo to mark the parking spot.
Honk uses the highest level accuracy available for the phone and marks your location when you set the meter alarm automatically. Manually move the parking pin on the map when the GPS accuracy falls short. Shows how far the car is from your current location.
Innovative bread-crumb trails to help quick orienting yourself as well as built-in compass.
Different types of meter with long (up to 24 hours) and short time limits.
Soft, regular as well as the Library- and the Shopping Mall- alarm level options.
Uses the background processing and local notifications for reliable, accurate alarms. Supports Retina display.
Pretty cool, right? Check out the little video from Mashable that explains all this:
Blame it on Toyota for starting the fad of mommys and daddys rapping to sell an automotive (remember, Swagger Wagon?). Now, Fiat has taken it to the next level and added a bit of British Swag to make it sexy. Yeah! What is there to not love a Fiat driving, British mother of rap who brags about wearing her nursing bra like a bullet-proof vest and swapping her sexy handbag for a snot-stained sack. Oh, and she proudly declares that her crew also includes her bitches (two cute little dogs) and her hose (of the garden variety). Refreshing, right? Fiat is awesomely rolling in the deep lately with creative advertising. It all started with its commercial for the 2012 Super Bowl titled Seduction and it has progressively gotten better from there. Can’t wait to see the next evolution of this creative binge. Check it out!
Who knew middle schoolers are this bad.. A bunch of 12-15yr old kids harassed a 69-yr old bus monitor in Greece, NY and somehow the video tape made its way to the interwebs.. Like in many cases, the activist hive minds on the web have kicked off a campaign to raise funds to send this poor old lady on a vacation and also start planning actively on how to get the kids repent their action.. The following Story, curated by Ben Doernberg documents the incident and the outpouring of support from the internet and the media. It will be interesting to see how this story ends – I somehow think it will be safe to assume there will be some suspensions involved when it is all said and done.
In line with its tradition of producing many of the safest cars on this planet, Volvo is once again upping the contributions towards road user safety. Mind you, this is not just occupant safety but also one that cares about the most vulnerable of all road users – the pedestrians.
