TSA vs Doctors vs Prostitutes – What do they have in common? The Ultimate Venn Diagram

Mike Thompson of Detroit Free Press (Freep.com) has nicely captured the sentiments of the American public (at least, the sensible ones) about Chrysler repaying the $5.9 billion bailout money. God knows how much bickering will happen when the political leadership decides to spend it on other programs.
Note: For what it is worth, I’d also add this: It is nice to see the taxpayer $$ safely return to the government’s coffers, unlike what happened with some of the Wall Street beneficiaries. This timely intervention from the U.S. Government not only prevented an American icon from vanishing without a trace, but it also saved thousands of jobs in a city that is already reeling from some really bad economic decisions.

Officers are under investigation after amateur video recorded a sniffer dog being forced to run alongside (for 2 Kilometers!!!Yes, you heard it right) a police van in Poland. Footage of the act, filmed by a trailing motorist, has caused outrage in Plock, Poland, where the police officers are based.

Found this gem contributed by fellow Redditor beer_OMG_beer. Who knew some police departments/officers had it this good. A nice BMW 3-series convertible with an awesome license plate to boot. I can see this a nice recruitment tool if the Fairfax police ever run short of a few men for the force.
A note, shared by fellow Redditor – jnnorris, about this awesome roadside capture says the incident took place in Apalachin, NY! The vehicle was spotted driving down the road where the speed limit is 65….. NYS Trooper stopped! and someone has also made available the dash cam shot on theChive. Long live the interwebs for bringing such gems to us.

Too bad the cops just left before the fury from hell was unleashed on that poor Cadillac Deville.. There is no stopping this one mad woman who is hell bent on taking it all out.. I’m assuming the man identified as the “bitch ass punk” seen lurking in the background is the party responsible for this outburst.. He did the best thing anyone could have asked for in such a domestic situation without getting hurt.. He stayed the hell away from her and did not take a chance of stopping her from doing what she needed to cool herself.. Damn!
Thank you, Jalopnik for delivering such gems! And as sadistic as this sounds, I liked the music in the background, which Jalopnik identified as the jilted woman vandal anthem sung by Jazmine Sullivan

As Montana’s legislators are debating this week on a series of bills related to Driving Under the Influence (DUI) laws, including one that wants to count older DUI offenses against a defendant in sentencing, this gem of an argument was made by a legislator arguing against the bills. How responsible!
Earlier this week, Republican Rep. Alan Hale took to the floor of the Montana legislature to slam these bills. The legislator — who actually runs a bar in Basin, Montana — declared that the new DUI laws are harming small businesses and destroying a way of life:
HALE: These DUI laws are not doing our small businesses in our state any good at all. They are destroying them. They are destroying a way of life that has been in Montana for years and years.
Editor’s note: Was he really thinking before uttering these words? I suspect a DUI (Delivering Under Influence) here. Come on, Rep. Hale. You can’t be advocating for your community’s well being only from an economic perspective.

We continue to hear from our officials how distracting cell phones are while operating a motor vehicle. Some states and law makers along with the Secretary of transportation have mounted a very vocal campaign to educate the driving public about this growing problem.
If that is not enough of a problem caused by the proliferation of mobile devices, now we have one more form of distraction – this one involving pedestrians totally distracted by their electronic devices such as cellphones and handheld music/gaming units. Interestingly, some of these incidents are captured by surveillance cameras fitted at the facilities where such accidents happen. Here is one such incident involving a 10-yr old boy who was playing video games on his PSP. The boy who was accompanied by his parents fell off the platform onto the tracks at a local station in Italy but was luckily there was no oncoming train and also a police officer on duty saw the boy go off the edge and jumped on the tracks to save him.
This other widely circulated video was taken at a shopping mall, shows a young woman, Cathy Marrero, walking straight into a pool of water in a decorative fountain all the while texting her friend on a cell phone. What’s more interesting is Ms. Marrero is now suing the mall management for publicizing the video.
Grrr.. Technology can be a boon and at times like this it can be bane too. There is nothing one can do to stop such incidents unless the users of such devices realize such potential dangers and walk carefully. Amazingly, Cathy Marrero who suffered the humiliating fall in the mall has a message for everyone, especially the younger generation, out there – HANG UP and WALK or else you could risk getting hurt/killed/humiliated.

Editor’s note: I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. Oh, and I’m not the only one who had tears streaming down my face watching this one. You can see plenty of folks who enjoyed this Gizmo Gone Wild video from their comments on Reddit and also on the source (YouTube) comments page.

Boston MBTA’s General Manager Richard Davey was headed to Ashmont on the T’s Red Line for the unveiling of banners created by youth artists from Dorchester when he spotted the scofflaw attempting to climb over the fare gates at the lesser-used Winter Street entrance to Park Street.
He walked up the evader and confronted him for jumping over the turnstiles. Caught by surprise and enveloped in shame, the scofflaw retreats back. This is where it gets better.
“He kind of fumbled around, and he did not have the CharlieCard (aka the fare card) and had just a couple of bucks on him, so I actually offered to pay for him,” Davey said. “He declined and said he would get his own ticket.”
Oh well, at least the young man had the pride to pay for his own ticket after getting caught red handed. Good job, Richard Davey. MBTA should be proud to have a vigilant man at the top running the show.
