Respecting the Rules & Sharing the Road – Awesomely Polite Japanese Hooligans(!) Show How to Celebrate While Being Responsible Citizens of the Society

Gotta love the Japanese Hooligans fans for their incredible politeness. Amazing how well behaved and orderly they are even celebrating their national’ team’s success on a global stage. Hmmm.. if only the Canadians, Americans and British behaved like this!!!

Seen below is an old video clip from June 201o that surfaced again on Reddit.  Shot in Tokyo during the early morning hours (video owner says 6AM)  on June 24, the Japanese soccer fans went crazy after their national team won a soccer game against Denmark during the 2010 World Cup.  They poured into the streets,  jumping around with unbridled excitement in the middle of a street.  But wait! Why are they retreat to the sidewalk from the middle of the street every few minutes? Every time the traffic light turned green for cars, they politely went back to the sidewalk, but once the traffic light turned red, they made a run for the middle of the road crossing.  I’m yet to see such a euphoric celebration by the Japanese folk in person.  Would be a sight to behold!

Note: I spotted a fan holding a beer bottle in this video.  Drinking at 6AM? Damn, son! What the heck.. It is after all a Friday and your national team has earned a glorious win in a World Cup soccer game.  Celebrate the heck out! Oh, anyone notice how friendly the traffic policemen were interacting with the fans. That would be unimaginable sight in the continental United States.

London’s Tube Delivers Another YouTube Gem – Dancing Train Rider’s Unexpected Exit

(Source:  YouTube via Reddit)

London’s transport systems have always served as a treasure trove for bizarre incidents caught on camera.. And this one is no exception.. The only difference is the funny twist.. And I’m glad no one is hurt!

Note: As always, the comments section on both YouTube and Reddit lit up with comments against and infavor of the dancer.. It is to be noted that if you are bold enough to get up and dance, you should be strong enough to bear the public humiliation you get.  Isn’t that what a real performer is all about!

Are you a couch potato? If yes, this one is for you – Nice video animation makes a compelling argument to walk and bike

You can either write volumes to say how important it is to include physical activities such as walking, biking, etc as part of your life style for a healthy life. Or, you can instead opt to doing something as simple as this video animation and make a compelling argument for an active lifestyle.  Great video by DocMikeEvans with a great message!

Oh, England. Why you so racist? Another embarrassing episode of racist woman caught on camera

December 13, 2011 at 12:39 am

(Source: Reddit)

This is not just another episode of racist English woman spewing nasty words in a public transit system caught on camera.. This one features an interesting twist.. Yes! A loud potty mouth riding a bus in London on Tuesday night starts abusing her fellow passenger calling him racial slurs. The situation quickly escalates into a physical altercation. Too bad she underestimated her opponent before putting her hands on him, which swiftly earns her a good beating. Apart from the self-humiliation she inflicted on herself, she gets thrown out of the bus as the melee ends.  As usual, the funny Redditors have made some awesome comments.Recommend reading them for a good laugh.

FYI – The video upload date reveals that it is an older incident (June 2011) but somehow found its way to the limelight after living in the dark depths of YouTube.

Here is an earlier article that discussed the issue of racist rants caught in public:

WMATA management should consider installing a couple of these swings in each rail car..  It definitely looks like a lot of fun (as long as it is not peak hours and the rail cars are not packed to the gills).

Someone at Virginia Department of Transportation is in trouble for messing up the signage at Sycamore Street exit along I-66 above the newly opened auxiliary lane..It is going to cost a few thousand $$$ to fix this inadvertent error.  Interestingly,  the old signage (still visible on Google Maps), shows the correct spelling.

“Honk If you Are Wearing a Thong” – Hacked Highway Sign Prompts Washington, DC Suburban Drivers To Disclose Choice of Underwear

(Source: Jalopnik)

Aahh.. The highway hackers have struck again.  This time in a suburban Washington, DC neighborhood and they hit (a private sign and not one owned by the local government) with a funnier & slightly smutty message.  The hackers tweaked the portable VMS (for the uninitiated VMS = Variable Message Sign) signage and made it read: “Honk if you are wearing a thong”.   The local FOX news reporter covering the scene reported hearing a lot of honking.  Hmmm.. The not so enthused county officials have reportedly shut down the sign.  LOL. You can check out the signage for yourself in the video below  (H/T to Jalopnik for the awesome scoop).

Mobbing Mumbai – Flash Mob Enthralls Commuters At Busy Mumbai CST Train Station

November 29, 2011 at 3:31 pm

(source: YouTube)

How do you transform a lazy Sunday evening into a memorable one?  Youngsters in Mumbai, India think dancing at a busy railway station is one way to do just that.  This past weekend (Nov 27), about 200 enthusiastic residents  (aged 4-60) of India’s financial capital – Mumbai – came together  for the pure joy of dancing. The historic CST station blared the popular Bollywood hit song ‘Rang De Basanti’ on the speakers while surprised train commuters rushed to see whats going on. The result is a fun experience captured in all its glory on video for the rest of the world to see.

Here are some details about the effort, as provided by IBNLive.com:  23-year-old Shonan Kothari  employed with a CSR consultancy in Mumbai came up with the idea of a flash mob. She shared the idea with many others. The group practiced together for a few weeks. They wanted to pay a tribute to the people who lost their lives in 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai. The CST station was one of the targeted sites and many of the victims during these chilling attacks were passengers passing through the facility.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus  aka CST (formerly Victoria Terminus) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and historic railway station in Mumbai which serves as the headquarters of the Central Railways.  For the uninitiated, the train station was featured in a song from the Oscar winning movie, Slum Dog Millionaire and many other movies.

Are Britain’s Public Transit Systems Fast Becoming Social/Cultural Flash Points For Racists?

November 28, 2011 at 5:36 pm

(Source: Reddit & Guardian)

The following two videos surfaced on the web, showcasing two  of the finest ladies Britain has to offer, both profusely spewing racist garbage material out of their mouths.  I wonder what makes these people lose their minds when they hear someone talk a different language in a bus/train.

In the first video (via Reddit), you will see this loud mouth passenger sipping a cuppa get confrontational with fellow passengers because someone around her was not speaking in English.  Glad to see a fellow Brit step in and check her attitude and put this racist rider in place. What this racist did not realize is that in this day and age she is not going to get away spewing such hatred in public.  Now her actions/words earned her a seat in the hall of shame and will continue to live in the eternity of the digital archives . I will not be surprised if this video will have lasting consequences for her career when more people get to see her behavior.

The 2nd one shown below (via Guardian) is much like the one above but with a few interesting twists.  Here we see a woman caught on camera spewing racist stuff and arguing with fellow passengers who are objecting to her language/behavior.  What’s crazy is the fact that the woman was engaged in hate-filled tirade, fighting with fellow passengers while holding a cute, young toddler (her son, I presume) in her lap.  Too bad, the kid is going to grow up exposed to this type of parenting everyday. Shortly after this nasty exchange was posted on the Web, the British Transport police arrested her for suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.

Apart from all the politics involved,  it makes me happy to know that not all Britons, White or Brown or Black, are going to put up with such loud-mouthed nut cases spewing racism on their buses and trains.  Proud to see the reactions of many of the fellow passengers in both these instances and kudos to the British police for taking swift action.   It is also heartening to see the overwhelming amount of protest voiced against these haters on the internet (suggest scanning the comments under both these videos on YouTube) though many of them are predictably profane in nature.  In this day and age, it does not take much to get on the infamous side of the Internet when you go talking nonsense in the public.   Thanks to the world of smart phones and social media, we will get to watch such racist clowns embarrassing themselves in public.
