You thought texting while driving was bad? How about running a suite of machines like an office while on the move? Here is one such case where it blows everything we preach about driver distraction. Police stopped this above Ford Modeo in Saarland, Germany, for speeding and when they peeped in this is what they saw in the passenger seat – a laptop with docking station, a router and wi-fi antenna tied to a cellular data stick, a printer and a power inverter to keep it all humming. For what it is worth, the German police did not issue any citations for the Mondeo driver for any violations . Maybe because he had his cellphone mounted to the windshield for hands-free use. yes. That’s right. He at least had the sense to leave his cellphone mounted on the dashboard. (via Motoramic – Yahoo! Autos)
Someone posted a series of these pics on Reddit and I’m sharing the two below because they had a transportation connection..Just beautiful! Life captured in motion is quite poetic! Also check out more photos from this series posted on My Modern Metropolis
And here is a video posted on the source website (Dancersamongus)..
It is official. I declare that Air New Zealand is the most fun airline on this planet. You ask why? Check this video below and you will agree with me wholeheartedly. Always known for pushing the envelope, Air New Zealand packaged an important safety message into a well-made hobbit themed video that is not only fun to watch but also compelling enough to get you to pay attention. For this brand new Hobbit inspired Safety Video, Air NZ partnered with WETA Workshop and it features cameo appearances including Sir Peter Jackson. What’s better? I’ve not had a chance to fly #airnzhobbit but one of these days I’ll definitely do so to experience the fun. Oh, why can’t the other airlines take a leaf (or two) from #airnz and do such creative infusion into their drab and stale “professional looking” safety briefings. “If you need little more inflation, blow into your mouth piece..” LOL.
Seattle’s Sound Transit decided to get a little creative in delivering an important safety message for its citizens. Boy, did they get creative. Partnering with local talent, Blue Scholars, pulled together a music video touting the benefits of riding the train while driving home the importance of being safe around the railway tracks. The message sounds compelling when laced and delivered with pretty catchy tune. I wish other transit agencies took a leaf from this effort and start opting for such creative messages rather than spending ungodly amount of money on the usual, boring printed PSAs.
So, this is how the kids of 1% (a.k.a the rich people) like to ride transit in New York.. A group of 20 somethings on their way from Hamptons decided to have fun on the train and did so with a frat-style, beer drenched, slip and slide party on the floor of a Long Island Railroad train.. No wonder these days kids do not want to have driving licenses! Hey, be glad they did not party this hard behind the wheels of a car.. Hope this gives them an opportunity to realize how much fun it is to ride transit..
It all started 79 years ago on June 6. A bloke named Richard Hollingshead debuted movies in an outdoor setting. As cited in WebProNews “Hollingshead’s drive-in opened in New Jersey, June 6, 1933, on Admiral Wilson Boulevard at the Airport Circle in Pennsauken, a short distance from Cooper River Park.” And today Google has unveiled an awesome doodle on its home page to celebrate this milestone that brought together movie watching & transportation together for the first time. Of course, some people are upset that Google decided to put aside the other historic milestone on this nation’s calendar – D Day, which also happened on the very same day! But hey, I’m quite okay with this this one!
Apart from the fun element, I learned from this video that bike riders (in UK??) save an average of 306 hours annually off their commutes.. So, what will you do with so much free time? Oh, and the Ride To Work Day in UK is June 18th.. Are you ready to don the leather & latex?
Found this gem floating on Reddit.. I can only imagine how boring these road trips would be otherwise without doing something like this..It is mindblowing to learn the guy seen sleeping (in the left hand corner) never woke up during the entire song. At least that’s what the creators of this video say. Must be a gifted bloke to be able to sleep despite all the chaos around him!
